Short post today, just wanted to urge everyone to check out two very good films I watched on IFC (instead of doing schoolwork):
The first is Monster (2003) with Charlize Theron and Christina Ricci. First of all, Charlize will blow you away with her performance, which she deservedly took home an Oscar for. Secondly, it's great insight into what conditions of society can make a person do (and believe is right). See it and think afterward just how much worse shit could be for you.
Second is Requiem (2006), a German film about the conflicts of religion and science when it comes to the life of a college freshman. It's kind of like The Exorcism of Emily Rose, except you know, well-made. Worth seeing for anyone in college right now (come moi), as there is a lot to identify with, and the lead performance by newcomer Sandra Huller is astounding.
